My name is Julian "Jools" Allen (pictured above) and I'm the Head Coach at XLR8 Bike School. I'm an ex British BMX Champion who has competed up to World Championship level for 30 years. My coaching experience ranges from 4 year old first timers to World Finalists but I also work with schools and corporate groups and everything else in between. I've delivered sessions at a vast array of venues as diverse as school playgrounds and fetes up to the Olympic BMX track venue in Stratford, London and the Olympic Mountainbike track at Hadleigh Farm Park, Essex. British Cycling qualified and accredited with enhanced DBS accreditation and Public Liability and Indemnity insurance.

I've been involved in cycle sport since first hitting the BMX race track in 1984 and have competed in Mountainbike 4X and XC, Cyclo Trials, Road Racing, a little bit of MX and have excelled in my chosen speciality of BMX racing where I still compete in the Veterans category. As well as coaching and riding I'm the British BMX Series race correspondent for British Cycling and 2024 BMX Magazine and regularly double up as bike tester and reviewer for the magazine.

If you or your group want to improve your bike riding skills and reach your goals then XLR8 Bike School can steer you in the right direction.
